Curriculum

We present a carefully planned curriculum which will allow for all children to reach their full potential at their own pace. Our high ratio carer-child enables us to ensure the curriculum is tailored to the needs of each individual child by means of developmentally appropriate play activities and a high level of individual adult input.

Record keeping

Because so many adults help in the group, we are able to implement an excellent record keeping system in which observations of the children in the group are used as a basis for drawing up a curriculum for each child. Parents are kept informed of children's progress by verbal settling in reports during the child's first term with us, and then with a Record of Achievement "The Nursery Profile and School Transfer Record" when the child leaves. This form has been designed for Pre-School's by Worcestershire County Council and will also be sent to the child's next educational setting.

Nursery profile & school transfer record

At the beginning of the Pre-School year, for those children due to be starting First School in the following September, a Nursery Profile & School Transfer Record is issued by the Pre-School Supervisor for initial completion by the child’s parent or carer. This form has been designed for Pre-School's by Worcestershire County Council.

This is an important tool and written record to monitor a child’s progress and may be discussed with a child’s parents during the year where a particular achievement is reached or, if there are any issues identified. At the end of the Pre-School year, one copy of the completed form will be provided to the child's parents for signature and then this signed Nursery Profile is given to the appropriate class teacher of the First School that the child will attend.

At least once a week, often on a Monday, the Supervisor will ensure that each child’s Nursery Profile & School Transfer Record is updated following discussion with the staff team. Ad-hoc updates are done for significant changes. Each half-term, the Supervisor and staff meet for a planning and evaluation meeting.
