First day hints
Arriving
The Pre-School entrance is opened at 9 am shortly before the session begins in order for the children to take off their coats and to go to the toilet before we start. The children sit down together at 9:15, for the register at the beginning of the session. You are welcome to come into the hall with your child.
Parents sign their children into preschool, noting the time they arrive, in the folder provided in the corridor.
If your child is to be collected by someone other than yourself or your partner, they must have the password that was provided on your registation forms, otherwise they will not be allowed to collect your child.
For the safety of the child, we will not let them be collected by someone different without prior warning. Please note that children should be brought to, and collected from, the Pre-School by someone older than 16 years of age.

What to wear
In order to feel free to explore and experiment with all kinds of materials, including messy ones, it is best to send children dressed in clothes which are easily washable and not too new.
It is good for children to practice the skills which make them independent. Simple clothing which they can handle themselves will enable them to go to the toilet when they want to and to put on and take off their outdoor clothes without being too dependent on other people's help.
The Lenches Pre-School sweatshirt and T-shirt are available for purchase. Please ask a member of staff for more details.

Toilet routine
We expect the children to ask if they may go to the toilet so we know where a child is. A member of staff will assist your child. Should an “accident” happen, we will clean and change your child if you have given us permission to do so.
